When Excel is enough
For a few dozen assets and one or two technicians, a well-built Excel spreadsheet covers the essentials: inventory, preventive schedule, job tracking and metrics.
When to move to software
Beyond 50 assets, with several technicians, spare-parts stock management and mobile work orders, CMMS software becomes more comfortable. Starting in Excel is still an excellent way to structure your data before migrating.
